O'Connell Contracting is a rapidly expanding civils, demolition & general contracting business based in Wimbledon, London. The core business is civil engineering and groundworks projects in the public sector for clients such as the NHS, schools and local authorities. O'Connell's operate nationally as a demolition contractor, again mostly in the public sector as well as on behalf of national house builders and private clients. Project values typically range from £100k to £3m.

Due to multiple recent contract awards, O'Connell's require an estimator to join the existing commercial team on a full time basis. The role is for an experienced estimator looking to join a dynamic, ambitious and forward thinking team. Given the nature of the business the successful candidate would be required to assist the commercial manager with some ad-hoc surveying duties from time to time.

Duties:

1. Take off's and creation of BOQ's for civil engineering and groundworks tenders
2. Pricing client's BOQ's (unit rate build ups and resource price checks required)
3. Demolition estimating (training would be provided-experience not essential)
4. Surveying & Procurement-limited surveying duties in support of the commercial manager
5. Travel to site from time to time as part of the tendering process
6. Assist in the preparation of public sector bids and supporting the Bid Manager in ad-hoc duties

Requirements:

1. 10 years estimating/surveying experience
2. Office based in Wimbledon for a minimum of 2 days per week, ideally 5 days per week
3. Car and clean driving licence
4. Strong communication skills and an ability to meet deadlines
5. Work in a neat and organised manner

Qualifications:

1. Ideally a degree in Quantity Surveying
2. Competent in all Microsoft Office Packages

1. Generous compensation available depending on experience
