What skills and experience we're looking for

To work collaboratively with all staff and parents to support student well-being and topromote the five outcomes of Every Child Matters.

To have overall responsibilities for a high standard of cleaning, maintenance, security andgrounds maintenance across the school, both internally and externally.

To be responsible for the effective management of the Building and Facilities staff andresources.

To ensure a high standard of Health and Safety and that all relevant regulations areimplemented and adhered to.

Main Duties

To manage the building and facilities team effectively to meet the relevant performance standards.

To take a lead role on the development, implementation and monitoring of procedures/policies and systems as required.

To provide organisational and advisory support to the Head Teacher, Governing Body and School Business Manager as appropriate, on buildings and facilities issues.

To have overall responsibility for effective security within the school and its environment, including emergency callouts as appropriate.

To support the liaison and negotiation of thecontractual agreements for the school and ensure that these are adhered to byall parties.

To manage all on-site contractors and agency staff related to buildings and facilities ensuring they fulfil the requirements including health and safety and safeguarding and monitor their performance effectively.

To have overall responsibility for the management of COSHH.

To take responsibility for ensuring that any reported faults and incidents are recorded, monitored and resolved.

To effectivelymanage and monitor the budget and resources.

To develop record/information systems which monitor and analyse issues relating to building and facility management through computerised or manual systems.

To have overall responsibility for completion and submission of any information relating to building and facilities within the school.

To be responsible for the organisation and management of any premises lettings such as conference facilities in order to generate an income for the school.

To work as partof a team to support colleagues and contribute to the vision and ethos of theschool.

To undertakepersonal development to improve own practice.

To assist with pupil welfare duties including supervision of students at lunchtimes under the agreed system for the school to ensure the safety and welfare of pupils.

Toassist with school administrative duties including exam invigilation as part of the agreed system forthe school.

Through personalexample, open commitment and clear action, ensure diversity is positivelyvalued, resulting in equal access and treatment in employment, service deliveryand external communications.

Where the postholder is disabled, every effortwill be made to supply all necessary aids, adaptations or equipment to allowthem to carry out all the duties of the job.If, however, a certain task proves to be unachievable, job redesign willbe fully considered.

For this jobwe are looking for:
  • A goodunderstanding of the management of building projects.
  • A goodunderstanding of Health and Safety requirements, including knowledge of COSHH.
  • A good knowledgeof propriety cleaning materials and equipment.
  • A goodunderstanding of the record/ information systems, which monitor and analyseissues relating to building and facility management through computerised ormanual systems.
  • Experience of thetendering process and preparation of specifications.
  • Experience ofdesigning and managing a rolling programme of maintenance.
  • Experience ofmanaging staff.
  • Experience ofmanaging a budget.
  • Ability to keepaccurate records.
  • Effective andpersuasive communicator both verbally and in writing.
  • Preparedness towork unsocial hours if required.
  • Willingness to abide by the City Council'sand Governors various policies.
